Enhancing OSCE Performance with AI-based Virtual Patients. Aim: To compare OSCE outcomes between students trained with traditional SP-based simulation and those using VSPs, focusing on clinical reasoning, diagnostic accuracy, and communication.
Project based on the Initiative of the SESAM Community of Practice for Virtual Simulateed Patients and Artificial Intelligence.
Traditional classifications of virtual (digital) simulated patients are based on a single characteristic or function. Most of them were developed more than 15 years ago and therefore could not take into account the technologies and methods available today.
Training that incorporates the use of virtual simulated patients (VSPs) can enhance the effectiveness of traditional training using simulators or simulated patients (SPs). Our goal is to provide an overview of the various types of VSPs.
